Welcome to the MCLS Blog!

Welcome to the Mississippi County Library System’s (MCLS) blog! Here, we hope to share upcoming library events, updates on future and current programs or services, infrequent communications and thoughts from the director of the MCLS, and general information about our library system. Our blog can be thought of as a revamped version of our newspaper column “Shelf Talk,” as it will hold the same name, with a less formal, and more modern delivery.

This is a new and exciting adventure we get to take, so bear with us as we are still learning to navigate certain aspects. Although blogs aren’t necessarily meant to be formal nor perfect, there is pressure that comes with ensuring we are creating and promoting ideal content for our readers.

With that being said, I hope that you will tune in to our future blog posts and follow along this journey with us. I encourage you to sign up for email notifications which will inform you each time a new post is created, so you won’t miss a thing about Your MCLS! Creating an account will also allow you to like, comment, and interact with other viewers.

In case you are unfamiliar with the MCLS, we are a six-location library system serving Mississippi county, Arkansas. Our locations are in Blytheville, Keiser, Leachville, Manila, Osceola, and Wilson. We are happy to offer a variety of collections, services, and programs at each location. A complete list of services, hours of operation, and contact information can be found on our website under “Locations” and the corresponding location’s tab.

At the MCLS, we often use the tagline “Enrich your life!” This is a motto we strive to apply to each service or program we provide. This tagline holds great meaning because using your public library truly is a step to bringing enrichment to your life. Libraries are a fantastic way to save money and indulge in new hobbies.

One hobby that can be found within our system is quilting. The Plain and Fancy Quilters group meets at 9AM on the first Tuesday of every month at the Blytheville Public Library. This group is excited to welcome new members, and always has a great time fellowshipping while working on various projects. Their most recent group project was a quilt inspired by the library. It was completed and donated by the group to the MCLS and can be found on display at the Blytheville location. Their hard work is shown in each stitch, and we are proud and thankful to own such a beautifully made quilt!

We appreciate you for taking the time to read our welcome blog! Be sure to check back soon for new posts. Feel free to send any blog topics you would like to see on our website or MCLS questions to info@mclibrary.net.
