New Resources at the MCLS

Here at the Mississippi County Library System, we try to provide current and useful resources. New to our website, you may notice links to Britannica Library and Britannica ImageQuest. These are both listed under the Homework Hub tab. These resources can be accessed from anywhere with your MCLS library card.

Britannica Library offers resources categorized by children, young adults, and reference. After entering the number shown on your library card, select your desired category. Powered by Encyclopedia Britannica, the resources are plentiful with articles, biographies, and media. There is access to a World Atlas, and a feature which allows you to compare countries to learn differences in history, government, demographics, and terrain. Anyone with a geography or world history project would benefit from this set of online resources!

ImageQuest is Britannica’s search engine for images and videos. There are over 3.5 million items which can be downloaded to your device. These have rights clearance for personal use, which means they can be used without worries of copyright infringement. This is especially helpful when seeking graphics to enhance school and personal projects.

Both tools are easy to navigate with a clean layout. They offer a variety of content and features. You can save certain items to your account to refer to them later. Another benefit is that both tools give credit and can be easily cited.

MCLS Director, Lowell Walters, used ImageQuest for a personal presentation and gave the following feedback. “I used ImageQuest via my iPad, and it worked like a charm. Scaled to the screen correctly, had plenty of photo options, and downloaded easily. I am a happy camper!”

The MCLS is thrilled to offer our patrons Britannica Library and ImageQuest. We hope that these services meet the various needs of our customers, especially students at various education levels.
