Shelf Talk 55: Introducing Melissa Wade

Mid-September, Melissa Wade joined the MCLS team as the Weekend and Evening Customer Service Specialist at the Blytheville Public Library. She handles regular services and leads games and activities in the kids’ section at Blytheville’s Thursday night Game Nights. Melissa is from Bartlett, Tennessee, but currently lives in Osceola, Arkansas. Melissa writes, “I have a wonderful son who graduated from Rivercrest High School in 2017, as well as two beautiful granddaughters. I am a lover of plants and animals and currently have two dogs named Charles and Woo plus two cats, Tessy and Nacho.” Going off her love for plants, Melissa enjoys gardening and even has a variety of plants throughout her home and yard. “My house is surrounded by plants both inside and out. My indoor plants consist of Golden Pothos, Monstera, and Norfolk Island Pine. In my outdoor flower beds, I have a variety of irises, roses, hydrangeas and ferns. I also have a small strawberry patch and vegetable garden.” Another interest, which makes the library a perfect fit for Melissa, she loves books. “I am an avid reader and hoarder of books, taking advantage of local libraries and bookstores in my location. My favorite genre is young adult fantasy fiction and romance with a little horror and mystery books mixed in. The authors that I am currently enjoying are Colleen Hoover, Sarah J. Maas, and Grady Hendrix.” If you are interested in reading books by Melissa’s authors of the moment, our library system has several books written by each available for checkout. “During her first weeks with us, Melissa has already brought new energy to the elementary level activity of the weekly Blytheville Public Library game nights. The trajectory of her ownership of the position has started in the right direction and at the right pace. I am glad that she has joined us to strengthen our public service efforts," states MCLS Director, Lowell Walters. “I am overjoyed with this great opportunity I have been given to be employed at the Blytheville Public Library, where I get a chance to share the things I am passionate about with my community. I look forward to meeting all of you and being of service to you.” We are excited to have Melissa as part of our team. Feel free to visit the Blytheville Public Library to meet her sometime!
