Holidays with Your MCLS

The MCLS is anticipating the upcoming holiday season. To celebrate the transition into the holiday season, we have a series of programs planned for all ages. Be sure to keep these dates in mind as well as the special holiday hours through next month.

Storytime with Santa & Mrs. Clause

At the Keiser Public Library, we will host a story time with Santa and Mrs. Claus on November 30 at 5:00pm. They will read a story and then lead a small craft. We will provide cookies so the kids will have the opportunity to share Santa’s favorite snack. This program will take place before the City of Keiser parade. Hopefully, we will see you at both the program and the parade!

Gifts for Loved Ones

To celebrate the season of giving, in December, we are going to have a series of programs that give kids the opportunity to create a gift for their parent or a loved one. Kids have pure hearts and often want to gift their families with something but sometimes cannot. At this program, we will personalize oven mitts with their handprints and allow the children to decorate them how they choose. Gifts like these are sentimental and nontraditional from the usual ornament gift.

These programs will take place at the following locations, dates, and times.

Osceola Public Library- Dec. 7th @3pm

Keiser Public Library- Dec. 11th drop-in 4pm-6pm

Wilson Public Library- Dec. 11th drop-in 3pm-5pm

Blytheville Public Library- Dec. 12 @4pm

Leachville Public Library- Dec. 15 drop-in 1pm-3pm

Manila Public Library- Dec. 16 drop-in 10am-12pm

How can the MCLS help you this holiday season?

As the holidays approach, remember the resources offered by your MCLS to make these days go smoothly. Our collection includes cookbooks with traditional and modern recipes for whichever holiday you may choose to celebrate. The Library of Things collection offers various shapes of cake pans including a turkey, Christmas tree, Noel candle, and Santa to keep your desserts festive. Our spice collection, available at the Manila Public Library, offers a variety of spices. This is great if your recipe calls for a spice you will only use once a year and will save you from buying an entire bottle to sit in the back of your spice cabinet.

Holiday Themed Mysteries

Finally, each year some fiction authors offer new titles that are set during the holiday season. Be on the lookout for these titles which may make your holidays even more enjoyable.
